Last week I was in Prague. A wonderful and very lively city! Actually – in my opinion – the most western city in Eastern Europe. I wasn’t aware of the fact, that Prague was in anticipation for the 40. anniversary of “Prague Spring”.
While I was finding my way around the historic places I was wondering how much has changed within the last couple of years. 20 years ago it was more than difficult to travel as a German to Eastern Europe – and it was so easy to immigrate in the US. Today it is almost the other way round: you can easily cross the border to Hungary, Czech, Poland – no annoying inspections or bureaucratic controls. In contrast, when you enter the US today you easily get the feeling of being a criminal offender.
Why can’t WE just be ONE?
