danah boyd is a Ph.D student in the School of Information Management and Systems at the University of California, Berkeley and a researcher at Yahoo! Research Berkeley and a Fellow at USC Annenberg Center. She studies how youth negotiate their presentation of self in mediated social contexts to invisible audiences. Her primary fieldsite is MySpace.Prior to Berkeley, danah studied computer science at Brown University and sociable media at the MIT Media Lab. She has also worked as an ethnographer for various technology companies, including Intel, Tribe.net and Google. danah blogs extensively at apophenia, many-2-many and misbehaving.
